InAktu Currency Converter — Chrome Extension

1. What We Collect

When you create an account, we store:

• Email address and name — for authentication and account identification
• Hashed password — securely hashed using PBKDF2 (we never store plaintext passwords)
• Google account ID — only if you sign in with Google
• Conversion count — to track monthly free-tier usage

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect browsing history or page content
• We do not track which currencies you convert or the amounts
• We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for advertising
• We do not use cookies or tracking pixels

3. How Your Data Is Used

• Authentication — to verify your identity and maintain your session
• Usage tracking — to count conversions against your monthly free-tier limit
• Billing — if you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment (we do not store card details)

4. Third-Party Services

The extension communicates with the following services:

• InAktu API (www.inaktu.com) — authentication, conversion proxy, and billing
• ExchangeRate-API — real-time currency exchange rates
• Frankfurter API (European Central Bank data) — historical exchange rates
• OpenAI API — AI text extraction to detect currencies from natural language (proxied through our server; your text input is not stored)
• Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions
• Google APIs — only for Google Sign-In authentication

5. Data Storage

• Account data is stored in a secure Supabase database (hosted in EU)
• Conversion history is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local) and never sent to our servers
• Session tokens expire after 30 days

6. Chrome Permissions

• storage — to save your preferences, theme, and local conversion history
• sidePanel — to display the converter in the browser sidebar
• identity — to enable Google Sign-In

7. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@inaktu.com. Local conversion history can be cleared by removing the extension.
